My bicycle trailer almost built.
Hello Peoples of the world. I have done a bit on the trailer today.
The first picture shows the old droopy pre Viagra towing bar. The one that had a mind of it's own, I used the flimsy little castor-wheel housing to have a sort turning platform thinking that the trailer would turn when the bike did. It turned OK, but not only when the bike turned it wondered from side to side like a drunk and dipped up and down, the poor little pooch would have been sea sick as it would have been like a very rough sea; I know what rough seas are like as I have been to artic waters round Iceland fishing; and, inside that box it would have been just as rough. The dog would never go in it again, she would refuse to come out from her cage bed once she saw me donning my helmet and glowing coat.
Here is another picture of the strong stable bar.
Here is the box minus door. Why? Because I didn't like the old door, it looked ugly. I think I only wanted to use the sun lounger hinges because I could see that they would make good door hinges. for another project yes, but not this one.
Her is the new door in construction, Very thin ply strengthened with a slightly thicker frame that I have stapled and glued on. I would like some flower carvings on it to match those on the sides.
Below is the old ugly door.
Right, I will be back. Maybe, the box will be bolted onto the chasses frame, maybe not. Oh, yeah, I have decided to repaint the box as it looks to me like an old radio gram box; remember them? probably not as old as me. I am thinking of a nice pale blue if I can find a used tin of paint. Plus, the tow bar needs repainting as it is a bit knocked about from when I discarded the pieces, then reclaimed em again to use, plus the straight piece has been knocked about a bit bolting it on and off. Most of the build time I have used up trying different ideas; some crap ideas some better; people who see it look at me in shock; I thought they were thinking, 'what the f---!' But no, they have even said I am clever, they are impressed; not often I impress people; especially the second Mrs and her relatives, but even they are grudgingly muttering that it is good. Neighbours are showing their astonishment. I think they looked down their noses when I first mentioned it but they were "Rather intrigued," to use their language. I don't think I will have any orders though, their backsides and bellies show that they don't like self-propelled transport. Most of em pick their newspaper up from the shop 2 minutes walk round the corner in their cars. But I am cleverer than they thought and that's enough for me. Bye, bye until the next instalment.
